Rule 4 of KC Solutions: to disseminate knowledge

This weekend took place in Madrid the third congress of ASETCIRC, the Spanish Association of Technology, Implant Surgery, Cornea and Refractive. It's an initiative of Professor Alió who has as objective, thought dynimac short communications and thoughts, on the last development of refractive, implants and cornea.

When you bring back so many meetings as I do, you lost the excitement of the beginnings, have the opportunity to know and speak with doctors.

But this meeting had something special for me, so I have the opportunity of met with the Professor of my university, Ramón Solá.

Ramón was one of my professors of clinics optometry and contact lenses (COC) in Escola d'Optica i Optometría de Terrassa (actually FOOT). It was the desired subject for everybody, because it was the last subject before obtaining the degree, and the first one which we had direct contact with daily patients.

When I met my old teach, I couldn't help remembering the past, how was that subject and how much we learnt with it. Without doubts, COC gave me knowledge of diagnosis and treatment, learn to face problems and solved them immediatly, to do study protocols and the most important thing, to plan the patients before their visit and analyse them thoroughly after obtain the dates.
I remember Ramón sitting on a table, he laughed and looked to everyone, with his funny anecdotes, he taugh us to love the profession and to think for ourselves.
We never missed on his classes, because you always could learn a lot of things.

This weekend, when Ramón saw me, he told me he was very proud of me, he knew I could arrive far (I was a student very very very bad and naughty) and he would love to participate in KC Solutions project. It should be a great satisfaction to see your students learning what you want to divulgate.
In KC Solutions we wish to have the same sensation and do the same work.

Up the next month, we will create a virtual room of the Keratoconus, when ophthalmologists, professors of optometry, eye care...everyone will take place teaching subjects about everything that concerns to keratoconus, but everything towards the patients. Whith discussion forums, videos and other material never seen before to understand everything. So you never have doubts, for everyone to.

From KC Solutions and through our excellent collaborators disclose all our knowledge of keratoconus, and personally, I hope to be able to get at least a tenth of a smile and professionalism that teachers like Ramón, Joan Gispets, Juan Carlos Ondategui, Laura Guisasola, Aurora Torrens, Jaume Pujol...unknowingly instilled in me and continue to instil in their students as the first day. What a great profession.

Thanks,
Pere

Rule 3 of KC Solutions: not to give up ever

Today, let me tell you about a young member of KC Soultions, without forgetting that she is a professional and exceptional hard-worker.

Perhaps you don't know how the decision of the segments to establish a patient with keratoconus works.
There are two ways to do a surgical plan. The first option is by using nomograms, which often function in a large percentage of cases. The second is evaluating the case individually and consultation with a specialist in analysis and planning of segments.

Maite del Pozo, optometrist from Alcalá de Henares (a beautiful city in the community od Madrid), is responsible for suggesting the surgical plans at IMEX. She is responsible for investigating and analyzing all the cases that are implemented in Spain and Portugal of intrastromal segments.
She has been suggested in a year and a half more than 1.000 cases and she is evaluating and analyzing patients operated for the past three years. The aim is to improve indicated levels and the design of the segments in order to provide better predictability in KC Solutions segments that will come this year worldwide.

Maite is characterized for being persistent. She does not conform with mediocre results, always asks to see the results after interventions and tries to improve them in those cases in which the result as expected has not been obtained. She works from Monday to Sunday, because she loves helping patients with keratoconus and makes her happy to see that is giving best works.
If she not achieved a good results, her head not to walk around until she find a solution.

The doctors love her, IMEX adores her and, of course, we also. This is the clear example of what should be a member of KC Solutions.
Maite extols anything we want by and for the patient and our customers. Not to give up ever.

We have no doubt that you will help us to find the perfect solution to help all cases of keratoconus, even the most complex. Never is too late to improve ourselves.

Thank you for being with us in this project.
From the heart...
